The Community Health Representative (CHR) Program is a unique concept for providing health care, health promotion, and disease prevention services to Tribal communities.
CHR Scope of Work
Take vital signs
Transport patients to and from appointments
Help patients fill out medical forms
Work with case managers/care coordinators to get referrals for patients
Home checks for elders
Provide disease prevention and health promotion education materials at community events

Northwest CHR Training
Core Course
Designed for students who are new to the medical field and looking for an entry level position.
(48 hours of core education)
Advanced Course
Designed for students who are already CHRs looking to advance their education into becoming a CHA, BHA, or DHA.
(48 hours of core education)
After taking both 48-hour courses, the student earns a CHR Certificate of Completion.

Stephannie Christian graduated from Stanford University as a Physician Associate in 2006. She has 15 years of experience working with the Community Health Aide Program in Fairbanks Alaska as the Regional Instructor and sight Supervisor. She moved to Oregon in 2020 and started working for the NPAIHB in 2023. Stephannie is passionate about bringing health the Community Health Aide Program to the Pacific Northwest.

My name is MorningRose Louie and my Indian name is “Wacha Thó Wiya” which means Blue Flower Woman in Dakota Sioux. I am 26 years old and reside in Pocatello, Idaho with my husband and 2 pups. In 2019, I earned my Bachelor’s in Community Health Sciences Public Health from the University of Nevada Reno while playing Division 1 Women’s basketball. This path has led me to work for tribal communities, working with tribal youth in sports as well as doing health and wellness workshops. I love to stay active playing sports, going to powwows and traveling the world with family. I’ve been working for the board for a year and love giving back to all tribal communities in the all areas of the health field. Pidamaya- Thank you.

Pamela has been a clinical dental hygienist for 18 years as well as a dental hygiene professor, and will graduated from EWU with her Masters in Science in Dental Hygiene in May 2022. Pamela’s focus and passion are recognizing the origin of oral health disparities for Indigenous people and providing pathways to overcome and heal. Pamela’s work involves developing educational programs for Indigenous people to become dental healthcare providers in tribal communities- delivering culturally-specific, trauma-informed & holistic oral health care in the community, and to represent the Tribal community in the Dental field.
